Join us for a conversation with the artist Dayana Lucas and Marta Mestre (the exhibition’s curator and artistic director of CIAJG). We will begin the visit with a reflection on the personal and professional journey of Dayana Lucas (b. 1987, Caracas, Venezuela), exploring the relationship between the intimate and public dimensions of her work, in particular through a series of artist's books and publications (some published by the artist's publishing project, Orinoco). Marta Mestre will lead the visit to the exhibition using Dayana Lucas' vocabulary (drawing, ritual, sculpture, decipherment, alphabet, etc), and will address the idea of "community" and "contamination", especially related to Dayana's collaborations with several other artists, such as Johnathan Saldanha, Luísa Homem, Mónica Batista. The tour will address the diversity of Dayana Lucas’ hybrid work - between graphic design and art - that spans performances, books, paintings and discs. The public is invited to participate in this meeting.
