CIAJG Open Day
The CIAJG opens its doors and invites visitors to participate in a series of activities specially prepared for the International Day of Museums.
10h00 + 10h30 + 11h00
Museum Guided Tours
Educação e Mediação Cultural Team
The CIAJG brings together works from different times, places and contexts side by side with works by contemporary artists, proposing a reinterpretation of the history of art and a new mission for the museum, as a place for wonder and reflection. In this context, the guided visits contemplate the possibility of interlinking the universe of José de Guimarães' collections with the temporary exhibitions or visiting a single exhibition in greater depth. Each visit fosters a unique encounter and makes it possible to develop specific themes.
14h00 + 16h00
Visual arts workshop
Sorte ao Desenho, Desenho à Sorte
Workshop oriented by Luísa Abreu
Can we find magic objects inside a museum? What are these objects and what is so special about them? We can learn a lot from them if we believe in the power of magic, creativity and imagination. This workshop challenges us to look at several works in the CIAJG’s collection with very special attention since they can transport us through drawing and words to the world of magic, luck and chance.

Workshop
CartaMuseu
Workshop oriented by Patrícia Geraldes
One day I visited a museum and I didn't know how to share what I felt. I learned then that it helps me to think about someone I like, take a sheet of paper and save what I want to tell them. To assist the words – which can’t convey everything – I make doodles, clippings, collages, paintings, drawings… I put everything in an envelope, put a stamp on it, and send the museum in the infinite size of a letter.

Masterclass
O Nascimento da Arte
António Jorge Gonçalves e Filipe Raposo
Based on the public viewing of the webisodes – using the metaphor of the Family Album – the artists create a dialogue with participants, raising questions and listening to perspectives on the presence of artistic creation within the human experience.

Exhibition opening
Jornadas Indisciplinadas
“Undisciplined Journeys” is a moment for the presentation of artistic proposals by students of the BA Degree in Visual Arts (EAAD/UM). In each edition of Undisciplined Journeys, a curator is invited who, from an external perspective, collaborates in the construction of a true exhibition project. In this year's edition, we have the collective Paralaxe.
19h00
Commented concert
O Nascimento da Arte
António Jorge Gonçalves e Filipe Raposo
The artists present a concert for piano and a digital pen – a work in progress since they first performed together at the BIG BANG 2015 festival (CCB/Lisbon). Searching for an intimate dialogue between real-time digital drawing and the piano, they have been building a kind of grammar that encompasses time, structure, texture, abstraction, evocation, and emotion. In an informal and spontaneous environment, the artists reveal their working process of linking the visual and the musical, through comments and conversations with the audience, combined with strategies and complicities in the spirit of complete improvisation that is the hallmark of their performances.
